SKILLS COMPETITIONS.

There are many "skills competitions" held across the country. "Rodeos" as they were initially called, were a way for officers to develop inter-departmental communcation in their area. Now, skills competitions bring officers together from across the country to a single event. Here they are able to learn from top instructors on the safety of operating their police motorcycle, as well as continue to develop open lines of communications, while having some spirited competition. Many of these events donate event proceeds to area or national charities.

	Motorcops.com National Training and Skills Championship With budget cuts and the Harley-Davidson 100th Anniversary Competition, there will not be a 2008 National Championship. Look for the next National Championship in the Fall of 2009!



	Capital City Challenge FEBRUARY 20-24, 2008 Now in the fourth year, this competition will take place on February 20-24, 2008. Held in Tallahassee, Florida the Capital City Challenge is hosted by the Leon County Sheriff's Office. Proceeds from the event go to support the Special Olympics. 	Southwest Police Motorcycle Training Competition APRIL 4-5, 2008 This competition is now in its 12th year and will be held in Las Vegas, NV this year. Visit their web site for more information.



	South East Police Motorcycle Training Seminar & Safety Trials APRIL 9-12, 2008 The Safety Trials is an annual police motorcycle skills event that benefits the Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) and the Muscular Dystrophy charities. Visit their web site for more information.



	Heartland Police Motorcycle Challenge MAY 9-10 The Heartland Police Motorcycle Challenge, spring refresher, will be held May 9th and 10th, 2008. The event will be held at the Independence Center Mall, located at I-70 and MO 291 Hwy. This event is being hosted by the Independence, MO Police Motorcycle Unit, and is a charity event for Hillcrest Transitional Housing Visit their web site for more information.



	North American Motor Officer Association Symposium MAY 1-3, 2007 This is our 24th year of holding our annual symposium and this year it is being held in Chilliwack, BC on May 1 - 3, 2008. 	Chesapeake Bay Police Motorcycle Rodeo & Skills Competition MAY 29-31, 2008 The Chesapeake Bay Police Motorcycle Rodeo & Skills Competition will be held May 29-31, 2008. This is an opportunity for motor officers to share training techniques, along with promoting better proficiency in the operation of a motorcycle in a police environment. 	Carson City Sheriff's Office Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge JUNE 20-21, 2008 The 5th Annual Carson City competition will be held in June 2008. Plan to attend! Visit their web site for more information.



	Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Competition JUNE 18-21, 2008 The Palmetto Police Motorcycle Skills Competition will be held June 18-21, 2008 at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC. 	Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar AUGUST 13-16, 2008 Our 2008 seminar will be hosted by the Toronto Police Service and will be held in Toronto, Canada. This is our 10th Anniversary event and we hope to see everyone there! Visit their web site for more information.



	Western States Motor Officers Association Training and Skills Challenge AUGUST 22-23, 2008 On August 22nd and 23rd, the Western States Motor Officers Association will be holding their annual Training and Skills Challenge in Elk Grove, California. 	Harley-Davidson Police Motorcycle 100th Anniversary AUGUST 28-29, 2008 The Harley-Davidson law enforcement training competition will be held in Milwaukee WI on August 28-29, celebrating 100 years of law enforcement motorcycles during Harley-Davidson’s 105th Anniversary celebration. 	Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Safety Competition SEPTEMBER 18-20, 2008 This is the oldest competition, started in 1979. In the past eight years, the Mid-Atlantic Police Motorcycle Riding Committee has donated over $120,000 to charity. Visit their web site for more information.

	Battle at the Beach NOVEMBER 6-8, 2008 On November 6, 7 & 8, 2008 police motorcycle officers and motor medics will converge on Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the second annual “Battle at the Beach”™. The “ Battle at the Beach” will be hosted by the Daytona Beach Police Department Traffic Unit, and will be held at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona with motor officers from all over the southeast battling it out for top prizes & cash.
